Bay01Scope

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Godsal Crawlway mobile application ("the app") published by Amelia Barrett ("we", "us"). It explains what information the app processes, where that information lives, and the choices you have. It applies whether you use the app as a property owner, a landlord, or a tenant who has been given access to a report.

If an inspection company has issued you a report, that company is a separate organisation with its own privacy practices. This policy covers only what the app itself does with your data.

Bay02On-device

Information stored on your device

The app is designed to work as a local record. The following is stored in the app's private storage on your phone and is not uploaded by us:

  • Reports: findings, inspector photos, annotations and the inspection timeline, once a report has been loaded into the app.
  • Your notes and photos: anything you add while reading a report, including images taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library.
  • Appointments: dates you have scheduled, past visits, and the state of each preparation checklist.
  • Preferences: display settings, glossary terms you have marked, and the last place you were reading.

If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. If your phone backs up app data through your device's own backup service (for example iCloud or Google backup), that backup is governed by the platform provider's terms, not by us.

Bay03Booking

Information sent when you schedule a visit

Scheduling a follow-up inspection is the one feature that necessarily sends information off your device. When you pick a date and tap confirm, the app transmits a booking request containing:

  • the date and time window you selected;
  • the property address associated with the report;
  • the contact name and phone number or email you typed into the booking screen;
  • the report reference number, so the inspector knows which property the visit relates to.

This request goes to the inspection provider named on your report so they can attend the visit. We do not keep a copy of booking requests on any server we operate, and we do not use booking details for any purpose other than delivering the request. Nothing is sent until you explicitly confirm; browsing dates does not transmit anything.

Bay04Permissions

Device permissions and why we ask

  • Camera: requested only when you tap to photograph something for a note. The app never opens the camera in the background.
  • Photo library: requested only when you choose to attach an existing image. The app reads the images you pick and nothing else.
  • Notifications: optional. Used solely for reminders about an upcoming appointment and its preparation checklist. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; no push service holds your data.
  • Calendar: optional. If you choose "add to calendar", the app writes a single event to the calendar you select and does not read other entries.

We do not request location, contacts, microphone or background activity permissions. You can withdraw any permission at any time in your device settings; the related feature will simply be unavailable.

Bay05No tracking

What we deliberately do not do

  • We do not include analytics, advertising or attribution SDKs in the app.
  • We do not create an account for you or require one to use the app.
  • We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses or usage statistics.
  • We do not sell, rent or share your information with data brokers or advertisers.
  • We do not use your reports, photos or notes to train any model or for any purpose beyond showing them back to you.

The app store you installed from (Apple App Store or Google Play) may collect its own installation and crash statistics under its own policy. We receive only the aggregated figures those platforms show to all developers.

Bay06Sharing

When you share a report yourself

The app lets you export a report, or a single finding with your notes, as a PDF or image using your device's share sheet. When you do this you decide who receives it. Once exported, the file is outside the app and outside this policy; treat it as you would any document containing your address.

Bay07Retention

Retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device, you control how long it is kept. You can delete individual notes and photos from within a report, remove a whole report from the library, or clear the appointment history from Settings. Uninstalling the app removes everything the app stored.

Booking requests already delivered to an inspection provider are held by that provider under their own retention rules. Contact them directly to have a booking record removed.

Bay08Rights

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA, the UK, Croatia and other jurisdictions with data protection laws) you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict or delete personal data, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Since we do not hold your data on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly through the app's own delete and export features. If you believe we hold anything about you, for example an email you sent to support, write to us and we will respond within 30 days.

Bay09Children

Children

The app is intended for adults who own, let or manage property. It is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly process information from them. If you think a child has submitted a booking request through the app, contact us and we will help you have it withdrawn.

Bay10Changes

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the "Effective" date above. For material changes, such as introducing any form of server-side storage, the app will show a notice the first time you open it after updating, and you will be able to review the new policy before continuing.
